Tidewater Golf Resort

- the community within which our Villa resides -

Tidewater Golf Club and Plantation: Tidewater is the most esteemed, sought-after, up scale community in North Myrtle Beach. It is an exclusive, private, gated area of million dollar homes with billion dollar views and amenities. It sits on a rolling plot of land stretching from about 1/2 to 1.5 miles from the Atlantic Ocean and boarders the ICWW (Intracoastal Waterway) on the West, and high bluffs overlooking the wild saltwater marsh at the Atlantic Ocean inlet as well as Cherry Grove Beach on the East side. See the first photo below.

Tidewater sits within the town limits of Cherry Grove Beach (known to postal authorities as the "Cherry Grove Section of North Myrtle Beach)," or "the Grove" or even "CG" to many. Cherry Grove is the northern-most part of coastal South Carolina, the Grand Strand and North Myrtle Beach (see map/satellite image below). It is also "lands end" for the public beaches along the Grand Strand as it ends at a natural inlet where the ocean tides (and boats) move freely in and out of the salt water marshes behind the oceanfront peninsula. This is the quiet, family end of the beach since Ocean Blvd. dead ends at the inlet (no through streets, very few high-rise buildings, no pavilion, no rides, limited people, crime and noise pollution). See our Ocean Resort page for more information on the charms of the marsh and local beaches.

LOCATION

Tidewater is called, by many, "Pebble Beach of the East" with its many beautiful, waterside fairways and greens.

The buildings visible in the upper left of the photo are in Sunset Beach, NC. Those to the right are the North end of Cherry Grove Beach, at the ocean inlet. The green island between the two is semi-deserted, but used for horseback riding (yes in the surf, too) by some nearby stables.

If your into golf, don't miss this 30-second video introduction to the Tidewater Golf Club.
CG area map To the left is an ariel photo of the Tidewater Golf Club in the Cherry Grove Beach area. There is only a thin, scenic strip of wild saltwater marsh between the golf club and the CG beach peninsula. Tidewater composes more than a quarter of the entire Cherry Grove Beach land mass (not all in this photo).

Cherry Grove is "lands end" for the South Carolina beaches (sits just a mile, or so, below the ICWW inlet (Little River) and the NC state line). This gives rise to some very special opportunities, and activities, to beach vacationers (see Ocean Resort page on this site).

TIDEWATER GOLF:

Tidewater Plantation and Golf Resort has been recognized by numerous golf publications, including the prestigious Golf Digest and Golf Magazine, as one of "America's Top 100 courses", the "Best Course in South Carolina/Myrtle Beach" and is often called "Pebble Beach of the East" in prestigious golf publications. See http://tidewatergolf.com/the-course/awards-and-honors/ and review this short YouTube video for more information on this fabulous golf resort.

This green, Hole 16 , is right on the ICWW and so is the 17th tee. 3, 4, 12, 13, 16 and 17 are on water, while 2,4 8, 9 and 18 all have nice water views. For full layout, download a PDF of entire golf course here

Now, Tidewater lays right across a scenic, wild, salt-water marsh from Cherry Grove Beach (see the photo above and this link to an interactive area map). It is only a VERY short - about 2-miles- scenic route to those beautiful beaches with the Fishing Piers and Ocean Drive Shagger's havens. As if that were not enough, it is only minutes, across the ICWW, to the Casino Boats and all the fresh seafood restaurants of the Little River and Calabash, NC. daily fishing fleets. Free boat launching (both ocean and ICWW access), transient docking facilities and a really nice salt-marsh nature park are close by (visible from Tidewater).

TIDEWATER AMENITIES:

Not just a great "golf course," Tidewater Plantation a& Golf Club is a true WORLD CLASS RESORT with an international reputation. The fact that it is in the number one vacation destination on the US East Coast, only adds to the package. Contained with in the Plantation are gorgeous pools, tennis courts, exercise and other notable facilities including a restaurant and bar. So, lets begin the tour:

Clubhouse Bar

The 16,000 square foot clubhouse features, among other things, a restaurant and bar, a modern pro shop, snack bar and meeting/banquet rooms. It overlooks the ICWW, some larger homes on the ICWW and, of course, holes 9 and 18.
Tennis Complex
Sports Complex Just above is a photo of one of the professionally-maintained tennis courts.

To the left is an aerial shot of the core amenities with the Sports Complex right it in the middle of the pools and tennis courts. The Clubhouse is just out of view to the left. This complex is short walk (two blocks) from the Villa.

Spa at pool complex

Spas/Hot Tubs are colocated with pools & Exercise Facilities.

Exercise Facility

This exercise facility sits between - looks out on - the two large pools in the Sports Complex.
Home across the street from our Villa
Above Photo: Very near (next block) to our Villa is a quiet, restful neighborhood pool and hot tub facility (gated & private just for the Villa community). This is serenity.

Tidewater is an upscale, gated community made up of mostly large, prestigious homes (this one sits across the street from our Villa) - sitting right on the golf course. It is a quiet, safe and friendly neighborhood with loads of charm, beautiful landscaping and southern hospitality. The Atlantic Ocean, vacation attractions and hustle and bustle of Myrtle Beach are just minutes outside those gates.

We truly believe this is the best location anywhere on the Grand Strand for a restful vacation, but if you choose to partake, all the action is just "over-the-hill, so to speak (see the Attractions Page).
